David Gay Department of Mathematics University of Georgia David Gay's webpage Monday, September 23, 2024 - 3:00pm Boyd 303 This will be an introduction to Geometry Research, Outreach and Visualization Initiative, GROVI (pronounced "groovy"). Moon Jang (Professor of Graphic Design) and David Gay will jointly present and lead the discussion, sharing some of the work that has led up to this initiative and explaining plans for this year and beyond. One of the goals is to recruit a GROVI working group to collaborate throughout the academic year on coming up with and designing one specific illustration project, which will then be handed off for full implementation to RTG-supported graduate students and undergraduates next summer. The GROVI working group will be open to all members of the community, not just those directly involved in the RTG. If you think you might like to work with us on some groovy mathematical illustration this year, or if you're just curious to know about what we're up to, or if you have just the right idea for something that desperately needs to be beautifully illustrated and you just want to tell us about it, please join us!
